Individual Counseling
What to expect:
Our first meeting will be an opportunity for us to sit down and go through an assessment of your situation to make sure that we are the right fit. If we decide that it is a good fit for both of us, we will create specific goals to focus on while in treatment. After that, we will meet on a weekly basis to gain the momentum needed to dive in and address your concerns.
My philosophy:
My belief is that change happens outside of your comfort zone. I am not the smile and nod therapist but rather a person who is not afraid to challenge you to dive deeper. My goal is to help you make lasting changes and stop living in the lies that are holding you back, you know, that bullshit that you tell yourself on a daily basis about how you are not good enough….not successful enough….not thin enough…smart enough….etc….all those beliefs will be challenged.
I am a hard worker at my core and I expect the very same from my clients. For therapy to be successful I expect my clients to show up and be willing to work, this will also include “work” outside of sessions.
What I treat:
I specialize in working with persons with substance use disorders and trauma. In addition, I have a passion for working with athletes and performance related issues. I have experience working with mood disorders such as depression and anxiety, attachment injuries, grief/loss, emotion regulation, and anger. My work is done through a trauma lens, which means safety is the upmost importance in our work.
What treatment modalities I will use:
I use an integrative approach to therapy because let’s face it, no two people are alike. I believe the therapeutic process is as much of an art as it is a science. I am trauma focused and have experience utilizing resilience focused therapy to help create the inner strength and safety that you will need to work through the hard stuff.

As we work together, I will utilize a mixture of top down and bottom up approaches including: Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing, and EMDR. What does all this jargon mean to you? Probably not much – but in simple terms, it means that I like to dig in and incorporate the whole body in treatment so we can make lasting change.

All three of these approaches are evidence based and help to address root causes. The work can be challenging and if you don’t want to do deeper work, this may not be the best approach for you. If not, that’s ok, not everyone wants or needs to go deeper.

Insurance:
I am also an out-of-network provider. If you’re unsure if you have out-of-network benefits, call your insurance company and ask about whether or not they offer reimbursement for behavioral health, at what percentage, and whether you need to hit a deductible first. Many clients are able to file and receive a reimbursement from anywhere between 30-80% of session cost. Please consult with your insurance company to determine coverage options.
